Although the 2019 seniors haven't graduated yet, it's almost time for the next round of seniors to start booking their sessions! Summer is the perfect time to get your senior photos taken. With only a couple months of school left, it wouldn't hurt to start looking for photographer. It can be overwhelming especially when you don't know what you're looking for and if you've never had professional photos taken. There are many reasons you should go with a professional photographer. Here are some reasons you should choose Olmsted Photography.
For most seniors, their senior session will be their first time in front of a camera. Understandably, this can be very intimidating. I believe that to do good work behind the camera, it's extremely important to know what it's like to be in front of one too. I started modeling for fun in middle school and then got scouted when I was 14. I have taken classes on posing with Hoffman International which I love to apply to my photography. Posing can be a huge concern for many seniors and I'm happy I am able to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Low Prices/Many Photos
It's important to consider how many photos you will receive in the end. While $50 may seem like a good deal at first, keep in mind most photographers will only give you back around 5 photos for that price. I tend to shoot fast, so I am able to provide at least 50 edited photos per full session. I also understand that sometimes two photos look similar to me but you might not like the position of your eye in one or the other. That is why I provide options. It is rare to find 50 fully edited images for $100.
Turn Around Time
Waiting for photos is like waiting for an exciting package in the mail. That is why I send them back quickly, always within a week or two (but usually less). Waiting months for photos is almost painful.
Who wants to just receive a link to photos? That's not very exciting when you're paying actual money for something. I always include a physical flash drive with every session ($50 and up) and a gift box for full sessions. Gift boxes typically include a couple free prints, coupons for future sessions, Polaroid pictures from the session, and a personalized photo gift. What you're getting depends on the person. I love to get to know clients and base their gift on what they'd like. With coupons and awesome gifts, the sessions pretty much pay for themselves.
If you have any questions before you book your session, I am always here to help! I will be here throughout the whole process. If you are unable to afford your session, need help deciding what to wear, or just don't know what you want, I'd be happy to assist. I look forward to meeting my future clients!
Welcome to my first blog post! For my first blog post, I am going to do a guide about what to wear for your senior session. Deciding what to wear for your senior session can be a difficult decision. If you are doing a full session with me you can do multiple outfits, although I usually recommend at least one session and an add on session for multiple outfits and locations.
My first tip is to choose something that makes your eyes look good. For example, if you have green eyes, olive green or army green looks amazing. If you have blue eyes, light blue always looks good. If you are doing your own makeup, research what kind of makeup would look best with your skin tone, skin type, eye color, and hair color.
My second tip is to not wear anything too far away in lightness/darkness from your skin color. If you are pale, don't wear black. It is hard for me to get the exposure right, because your shirt will either be completely underexposed or your face will be over exposed. A good way to think of this, is to take a photo of yourself in black and white and the darkness of your shirt should be similar to the darkness of your skin. You should also figure out your skin tone and research what colors would look good on you. At the same time, don't wear anything too "boring" (unless that's your style!), or anything that could be described as "drab". Wear something exciting!
My last and most important tip is wear something that reflects your personality. If you like to dress with what is in style, wear something trendy to reflect your interests and the year you graduate. When you're looking back at these photos, you will want to see exactly what was in style and how you dressed in high school. Also, just be yourself! No need to go over the top for senior photos. A little fancier than what you would wear to school is perfect.
And of course, always come to me if you don't know what to wear or want to borrow something fun. You can never go wrong with a jersey if you play sports, a dance costume or uniform if you're a dancer, or just something that you feel like you look good in that reflects your personality. It is also always a good idea to think about location and how your clothing style matches that. And remember, it is your session, so it is completely up to you what you wear!
